Over these past months, I been looking into Coca Cola. How they connect to the consumers with their products. Coca Cola has been doing this since they became a company and will continued to so. With commercials about the super bowl or something so simple as share a coke with a friend.

Coca Cola also goes back in fashion with the glass bottles or make fun caps for the bottles. Coca Cola is a great company and always try to share happiness with their customers.

Coca Cola Happiness :)

-When Coca Cola first came it, the slogan was simple, Drink Coca Cola. In 1948, they added hospitality in their slogans, like you saw in my past post. Wasn't until 1979 they started to add emotions with there slogans "Have A Coke And A Smile." In 2009, it introduces Happiness. Now Coca Cola still uses that slogan for their commercial. They want their image to be positive to our emotions.

Now in all their commercials they end with this picture.

Here's a commercial that hows happiness isn't just on your birthday, its everyday with coca cola. :)

When was the last time you had a coke in a glass bottle?

Over time Coca Cola change its packaging. It was originally in a glass bottle, but as years went on they created new ways to package this drink. Now you have it in plastic bottle or cans. Each bottle size are different too

But now, since Coca Cola sales are going down, the company brought back glass bottles in hope to bring up sales. With bring back the glass bottles, they made the packaging smaller to, 7.5 ounces, to be less then 100 calories. This surprising brought up the sales of Coca Cola. Last year Coca Cola sales went up 9% and this year 19%.

Now since we have to options of glass and plastic bottles, people are questioning that Coca Cola tastes different in a glass bottle. I tried it and i agree with that it does. Coca Cola spokespeople said differ. They say that the great taste of Coca Cola is the same regardless of packaging it comes in and that in a particular way that people choose to enjoy this Coke can affect their perception of taste. Yes the formula is the same, but according to FDA that packaging can change the flavor to the drink. Aluminum can might absorb small amounts of soluble flavor from the side or the acetaldehyde in plastic bottles might migrate into the soda. Even though the FDA does regulates that chemical contact but even the allowable amount can alter the flavor of the great Coca Cola.  There are other factors that can change the flavor of the side but over all your best bet for a pure coke is in a glass bottle.

Here's a video of all the coca cola bottles in the commercial

HAPPY THANKSGIVING !

- Coca Cola made a commercial for the Super Bowl showing the Macy Thanksgiving Day Parade. The commercial about a ballon of a Coca Cola bottle and having Underdog and Stewie Griffin fight over the bottle.  Theres a twist at the end of the commercial.
This idea was created by a 12 year old boy. His father Wieden+Kennedy was the creative director, he was working on an idea for a commercial during the super bowl and his son gave him the idea of commercial. The commercial was named in Adweek's  as the best Super Bowl spot of the decade.
Heres the link if you want to know more about the story be hide the commercial.

Heres this amazing commercial.

- I couldn't find a lot of commercials for thanksgiving, but  i found one from the 1950. In the commercial it talks about hospitality of Coca Cola during thanksgiving. This commercial is not a funny one but forces more on what Coca Cola image is as an company.

-Just like Halloween, Coca Cola offers Recipes for Thanksgiving, and little message saying "Happy Thanksgiving from Coca Cola"
Heres the Link:

Heres are some cool Pictures i found when i Googled thanksgiving Coca Cola

A store used all Coca Cola brand extensions and some other drinks that cokes offers and made a Turkey.

Coca Cola even got the consumes involve with the teasers commercial. Image you talking to your co work about how you saw this coke commercial and you voted for one of the teams to win. Right there your product is being knew and getting talked about which might not have happen with other the commercial.  They played some commercials adding some details to each party, and how much time did they stall or took up by something else. Giving you hints on who you should vote for

What If We Never Threw Away a Coca Cola Bottle ?

-Coca Cola had an idea to expand the life a the Coca Cola bottle, by creating 16 different type of caps. Each cap does something different. You can have a water gun, bubble wound, to spry, marker, etc. It was created in china.

Coke gave away 40,000 of these caps. Coke started the campaign to encourage people to recycle in Vietnam. It give more use to the product, rather then just drinking a coke and throwing it out.

We live in a culture that health and fitness is one of our top issues. Coca Cola isn't a healthy product, as we saw in my past post. They created a new type of Coca Cola, which is called Coca Cola Life. They also changed the color of the labeling from red to green. Coca Cola Life is lower in calories, and its all natural.  Its has stevia in it. Coca Cola, didn't release Coca Cola life to America right away, they advertised in other countries like Argentina. It wasn't until November 4, that they released it nationwide.

Why did Coca Cola change the color from Red to Green?

The reason on why they changed the color of the label, so it can stand out in the shelf. Another thing is, that green is a symbol of being all natural.

What's Stevia?

-Stevia is a plant, that doesn't add calories to your diet when you consume it. It it part of the Asterace family, and related to the daisy and ragweed. The species of stevia, Stevia rebaudiana, are grown in Paraguay and Brazil. People use this stevia bush to sweeten food for over hundreds of years and sometimes even for medicines. Stevia is also 200 times sweeter than sugar in the same concentration.

Here is a Commercial ad that played in Argentina (2013)

Coca cola life might have a life after all. According to USA Today, it said the Coca Cola life already has replace 75% or more of their normal soda purchase. People are saying it taste pretty good. The new label is appealing to consumers and that 1/3 of people who haven seen the Coca Cola life, did purchase it. Also 80% of the consumers that bought the Coca Cola life, said they would buy it again. Many stores sold out of this product, and that customers were calling up the store in ahead of time and asking if they could put it on the side for them.  Coca Cola is working to becoming a leader in this interesting and emerging category of drinks.

-Happy Halloween! Here's an ad that Coca Cola used in the past for Halloween.

-Also last year Pepsi showed an ad that makes fun of Coca Cola. In the ad you see a can of pepsi wearing a cape the has "Coca Cola" on it.  So Coca Cola played an ad that went against it.

-Here are the two ads next to each other.

-Another thing that Coca Cola does for halloween is they have costumes. They also have it on their website on how to make your own Coca Cola costumes (DIY). Another thing they have on the website, they give you some craft ideas and stencils for pumpkins.  Here is the website, if you love Coca Cola and want to spend your halloween dressing like the brand or  having a pumpkin with the brand logo carved.

How do you feel about Coca Cola advertising to your children?

It wasn't until May 2013, that Coca Cola vowed not to target kids under the age of 12. Before this, Coca Cola targeted all ages, with the commercials they aired or even toys they made.

Here are some of the toys that Coca Cola sold
Barbie Doll

Yo-yo

Teddy Bear

Puzzle

Legos

Here's a commercial, that Coca Cola aired. In the commerical you'll a BABY drinking Coca Cola.

Many Americans blame soda companies for the obesity problem we have with the children. I know when my nephew was younger, he would cry when we didn't have soda on the dinner table. He would only want to drink soda, never wanted water or juice. Coca Cola now as a company is trying to join the fight with obesity with their "Coming together" campaign.

Here's the ad, you will see from Coca Cola showing  that they have lower calories options

The food nutritious mocked Coca Cola by making fun of their  Polar Bears. By this commerical being aired, it gave a bad image for the company. That's why Coca Cola no long shows ads targeting children uner the age of 12.
Here's the video that the food nutritious made to mock the Coca Cola bears.

But is it really Coca Cola's fault that children want to drink soda rather than water or anything that is healthier. What about the parents? Brands are also transfered to children by what their parents have in their home. If the children sees their parents drink Coca Cola instead of water or something healthier, then the children will end up doing the same by just watching there parents.

-Coca Cola is an Idiosyncratic company. It can appeal to everyone but they will target a subculture. Coca Cola will target multiple subculture such as generation Y, like I mention before.

-Another subculture that Coca Cola tends to target is the Football culture. During the Superbowl I remember playing a game with my friends, that we will count how many Coca Cola commercials we see during the game.  Coca cola, does this a lot when it comes a game season. Like this past summer, the world cup was around, so coca cola made a commercial for the World Cup like it does during the Super Bowl.

-Here's one from two years ago, with the polar bear watching the game live and drinking a coke.

-Here's a commercial that that also played during the Super Bowl.

- Coca Cola had a campaign that talk about sharing your coke with someone. Like in the picture, the bottles will have people names on it. So when you went to the store, you could have your name on a coca cola bottle. It like your own personal bottle. Once people got there soda with their names or friends name, then they will post the picture on social media and hash tag #ShareaCoke. By doing this you can have the social media advertising your company. Also by Coke doing this they were targeting an subculture, such as the millennials generation or generation Y. Another thing Coca Cola did for people like me who couldn't find their names on the Coca Cola bottles, was they had a Coca Cola tour. During the tour, they had this machine that made a personalize your own mini coca cola can.  Also they gave a chance for you to win free tickets to a concert or 5 dollars off to the movies when you shared a Coke.

Heres one of their commercials they did during this campaign.

Also you can see in the people in the commercial are the millennials or generation Y.

Coca Cola commercials in the 50's are different from the one in the 60's. As you see in the video, the commercial is talking about the average american lifestyle. While you see in the 1962 commercial, they are singing, "Things goes better with coca cola."

This was Coca Cola slogan in the 1963. As you seen in the video.

Now heres a commercial from 2014, about 64 years after the commercial you just saw on the top. Notice the different from these three commercials. Coke change on how the advertise their product.  In the 50' 60's commercial all you heard in the commercial was the word coke or coca cola. While this commercial you just see different type of people drink coke while their sing a song about Americans.
Although the commercial's are different on how it looks or sound, it still has one thing in common. Which is, that they are trying to connect to Americans even still today.

Personally I like the commercial from 2014 and the commercial from 1962. The commercial from 1950, is very boring in my opinion.

1906 Slogan
Coca Cola uses slogans as a direct way to communicate to us as American custumers. They advertise by whats going on in the daily American lives. During 1900's, American were moving away from alcoholic beverages. By that being so, Coca Cola slogan was
"The Great National Temperance Beverage." Coca Cola wanted to tell Americans that Coca Cola is a better alternative to drink.

The original logo for Coca Cola

The Coca Cola Company, was created in 1886 by an Atlanta pharmacist, Dr. John S. Pemberton. Dr. Pemberton took this soft drink to his neighborhood pharmacy for people to sample it.  Dr. Pemberton had a partner/bookkeeper, Frank Robinson who is credited with naming this drink Coca Cola. Also Mr. Robinson was credited for the trademark and distinct script that is still used today. Dr. Pemberton died two years after creating the worlds number one selling beverage. Before Dr. Pemberton died, he sold portions of Coca Cola to several parties, one of them was Asa G. Chandler. Coca Cola, under Candler was a complete success. Coca Cola expanded from fountains outside Atlanta.  In 1894 Coca Cola had a growing demand to make the beverage portable. Joseph Biedenharn installed bottling machinery in his Mississippi side fountain. He was the first to bottled Coca Cola. Five years later, three entrepreneurs bought the bottling rights of Coca Cola from Candler for ONE DOLLAR, which is 27.03 dollars today. Now these
three entrepreneurs, Benjamin Thomas, Joseph Whitehead and John Lupton became the worldwide bottling system for Coca Cola

The changes in the Coca Cola bottles over time (1899-2007
